“This is a story about wishing.”
That’s the first line of the 4th day of Christmas book, The Story of Holly and Ivy, written by the British author, Rumer Godden.
There’s more to the story than just wishing. There is also faith, hope, and love. Let me tell you a little about this book.

This story is about two girls with wishes. One girl named Ivy has spent her entire life in an orphanage and wishes for a Grandmother to adopt her and a doll to hold and love for Christmas. The other girl is a doll named Holly who wishes to be adopted by a child for Christmas. Will the two girls get their wishes? Read it to find out.
What I loved about this story is that you can sense God’s loving hand guiding everyone along the path that leads to the conclusion. There are no coincidences. There is just hope and faith that what is wished for will come to pass.
When I shared this story with my children, I told them about the power of prayer to help wishes and desires come true. I wanted them to understand that wishes are nice, but prayer is powerful.
I hope that your Christmas is filled with prayer and wishes that come true too.
