That’s the word that best describes the 10th day of Christmas book, The Christmas Story with Ruth J. Morehead’s Holly Babes.
This Nativity book is set up to appear like a play put on by children. You can see a stage in the opening and closing pages. With the exception of the animals, all of the characters are played by children. In a few scenes, the angels are suspended by ropes just as they would be in a real theatrical production. It’s absolutely adorable.

The illustrations are truly precious. The Holly Babes make endearing characters on every page. In one cute scene, a cat cuddles up to a smiling Mary while the barefoot Angel Gabriel visits her. It’s such a treasure.
The text of the story is fairly simple and straightforward. It is written in a tone that is appealing to children. A 2nd grader could probably read it by himself.
This is a good story to use to get children thinking about a Christmas play. That’s why I have it as the 10th day of Christmas book. I hope it brings joy to you and yours this Christmas.
