I don’t know about you, but I love to tie faith into learning.
I love to be able to bring God into the curriculum whenever I can.
That’s why, recently, I decided to come up with some writing prompts relating to Jesus.
These writing prompts will hopefully help your children get more involved in the Bible stories. They are meant to encourage your children to visualize important biblical events and inspire them to consider certain aspects of their faith.
I hope that your children enjoy doing them and that they bring them just a little bit closer to Christ.
Writing Prompts About Jesus
- Describe the Nativity scene from the perspective of a shepherd. What do you see, hear, and smell? How do you feel?
- You meet Jesus in person. Write a conversation between you and him.
- Which one of the Beatitudes (Matthew 5:1-12) that Jesus taught is most meaningful to you? Why?
- You are one of the women who sees the empty tomb, the angel, and Jesus after his resurrection (Matthew 28:1-10). Describe what happened as though you were telling it to one of the disciples.
- Make a list of adjectives describing Jesus. What did he look like? What characteristics did he have?
- Write a story in the 1st person from the perspective of Mary or Martha describing the time when Jesus ate dinner with them (Luke 10:38-42). Include a description of the thoughts and feelings of the woman you chose.
- Write a thank you note to Jesus for all he has done for you.
- What would you do if you could spend one day with Jesus? Where would you go? What activities would you do? Write about it.
- If you could go back in time to any event in the life of Jesus, what would it be? Describe it and explain why you would like to visit that point in time.
- Jesus performed many miracles. Not all of them are described in detail in the Bible. Write a story about a miracle that you think Jesus could have performed.
- Pretend that you are one of the little children that Jesus welcomed in Matthew 19:13-14 and Luke 18:15-17. Write a story describing the events of that day.
- Jesus wants us to love one another as he loves us. Write about something you can do to show your love for one other person or a group of people.
