I’ve bought my kids board games and/or card games for Christmas every year since they were young. We have tons of games but I think they’re worth having since they promote quality family time.
I thought I’d share with you some of our current favorites so that you can have some ideas for your Christmas wish list.
Our list of Top 10 Games doesn’t include the classic favorites like Monopoly, Uno, and Parcheesi although we love those too! It’s just that I wanted to share some different games that you may not be familiar with.

Top 10 Games for Your Christmas Wish List
Quelf
When we’re in the mood for silliness, we play Quelf. It’s outrageously fun!
Survive Escape from Atlantis
This game about escaping an island goes back to my childhood. I loved it then and still love it now. So do my kids!
Catan
We really enjoy this game of managing resources and building settlements. Expansion packs make it even more interesting.
Rat-a-Tat Cat
This is one of our favorite card games, partly because we love cats and partly because the game play is so enjoyable.
Sleeping Queens
We played this game so much that the box is falling apart! We really enjoy the game play of this fantasy-themed card game.
EcoFluxx
There are lots of interesting versions of Fluxx but we currently have the ecological one and we love it! It’s all about meeting a goal and changing the rules of play.
Loonacy
Loonacy is a super fun fast-paced card matching game. It involves matching pictures so no reading skills are required.
Chrononauts
When we want to play with history, we play Chrononauts. It’s full of fun stuff like temporal anomalies, paradoxes, timewarps, artifacts, and more.
Forbidden Island
We love Forbidden Island because it requires teamwork and has an interesting storyline. You have to collect treasures and get every one off the island in time in order to win.
Forbidden Desert
Like its counterpart, Forbidden Island, you have to use teamwork to win Forbidden Desert. Instead of collecting treasure, you’re collecting parts to a flying machine that will help you escape the desert.
